Training & Exhibition Centre and Post & Store, Chelwood Gate 2005
We were commissioned to project manage the refurbishment and fit-out to the Training and Exhibition Centre at the headquarters of Cats Protection. On the first floor a high quality and high specification lecture and training facility was formed, with adaptable spaces for between 10 – 80 people, with first class audio-visual installations and adaptable environmental controls to suit almost any type of training and lecture requirement.
The ground floor was converted to make use of an existing space for visual exhibitions, which could be changed to suit a specific clients’ requirements, along with a shop to sell Cats Protection merchandise. A contemporary style café and restaurant complimented the challenging conversion of this prestigious building.
At the same time, we were asked to provide a new post and store facility. Due to its location in the heart of Ashdown Forest, the local planners required a building sympathetic to the adjacent buildings and environment. The use of this building was needed to meet the client’s requirements for storage and distribution of merchandise for the charity and an office and storage space for the maintenance and exhibition teams, along with workshop facilities for the centre’s equipment maintenance.
The finished building used materials to complement the existing structures with a contemporary feel but still achieved access and storage solutions for today’s palletised requirements.
