New Referral Hospital, Glasgow 2009
This project required us to transform an old Majestic Wine warehouse in Glasgow into a modern referral hospital and emergency clinic.
During this short track four-month program we were requested to design a client friendly referral hospital which incorporated modern design with operational ideas. A mezzanine provided the increased floor area required for an office room, staff room and WC facilities. Consequently, the ground floor was available to be converted into consulting rooms, a large reception area, an open plan treatment area, two theatres with a dedicated preparation area and hospitalisation facilities for 40-50 patients.
The design brief, which included features of openness to provide good natural light in working areas, was well-met and our client provided good feedback, particularly regarding the reception and consulting areas where a calming atmosphere was sought.
